pulled together casual

This time of year I feel like I have two extremes when it comes to dressing, super casual for running errands, baking and gift wrapping and fun and glamorous for holiday parties and cocktails. I picked up a few new pieces from the Loft last weekend for both occasions, however I want to go back for a few more casual pieces, how great are these pieces to throw on, yet still looked put together. can’t forget color

As soon as the cooler weather rolls in, it seems everyone {including myself}, reaches for dark, neutrals and subdued clothing. This year I am going to strive to bring a little color into my winter wardrobe. So often I just pile on all black and head out the door, or throw on neutrals and call it a day. I am challenging myself {and you} to not forget the color this winter season. add color

reaching for…

On a recent trip to St. Louis I made a pit spot at H&M {I can’t resist} and picked up several casual sweaters and sweatshirts {keeping on theme with my last post}. I can’t wait to wear them throughout the cooler months, perfect to dress up with a pair of jeans and heels, or to throw on over a casual dress. I have my eye on several more sweaters to scoop up when they open here in New Orleans!  After many years of waiting, the doors open on Oct. 31! In the meantime, here are my H&M online picks for comfy and casual.

sister style

It’s crazy that kids are going back to school and we are almost halfway into August, where has the summer gone? We took these pictures earlier in the summer and I have to share before fall starts knocking at the door {even though I’m kinda ready for it, as mentioned here}. One of my favorite ways to wear a causal dress is with a shirt layered on top. This is a maxi dress, with an oldie but goodie, lace top. Wear your favorite go-to dress too often? Throw a shirt on top and get a totally different look. Also, a perfect way to bring your maxi’s into fall.

beach walks

If I had it my way every summer evening would be spent like this {if only work didn’t get in the way}. The last beach trip I went on we took several long walks on the beach with camera in hand, of course.  My sister and I had too much fun! I couldn’t help but capture my summer uniform as of late; super soft denim shorts {I LOVE these} and stripes on top. This particular occasion called for my favorite beach find, a super inexpensive hat from Saks Off 5th.

gypset travel

I did a post a few weeks back {seen here} on outfit inspiration by way of books. This is another book I recently came across {it has rave reviews} and the photos are absolutely fabulous. Makes me want to slip on a long dress and put a few flowers in my hair, so perfect for summer!
