their way & the save way

The maxi dresses that live in my closet have seen better days. Mainly in part because I live in them during the summer. Not to mention they are easy to wear and so quick to throw on.  I am currently on the hunt for a few versatile replacements and I love the stripes on the one below. And,  just so happens I found a more affordable version too!

{Rachel Pally $238}
{Hive & Honey $69}

friday finds {ruffles}

I love the look of a  nice ruffle swimsuit top, and to be honest now is a great time to shop. Stock is normally full and the average consumer is far, from thinking about swimwear. I got this swimsuit from Old Navy this week and absolutely LOVE it! The fabric is thick and the quality is much better then I expected! Unfortunately the color I purchased is sold out but the black below is so cute as well. {and I wanted to show, again, it pays to shop around, I was close to buying the one from J.Crew for almost triple the price}

their way & the save way

I have been a huge fan of the shape of the Celine luggage tote. The shape is structured and classic and the color combinations are perfect. I have always dreamed of purchasing one but, let’s be real, who has that kinda cash lying around. I recently came across a very similar styled bag and it’s just what I need to fill the void of not owing a Celine luggage tote. So until I win the lottery or the money fairies drop by my house, this look for less will do!

their way & the save way {shower}

I have been doing a little updating around my house in the new year. And have been looking all over for a fabric shower curtain {not too pricey, of course}. I have debating making my own {still thinking about it} but I came across this shower curtain so similar to the one I have always loved from Anthropologie and I had to share! This may become the newest addition to my bathroom!

{anthropologie $118}

{bed bath & beyond $49.99}

*again, just another example that you don’t have to spend a lot to get a high-end look

with a bow on top

I love the feminine touch of the bow on this top! I came across the expensive version in this months InStyle magazine and happen to see the less expensive top in my sisters closet over the Christmas holiday. Needless to say, I had to rush right out and get myself one as well. This is just another example that great style is within everyone’s reach. {the less expensive version is almost $200 less than the expensive version!}

underneath it all

Writing about underwear is a little personal, but I just had to share. I fell in love with Hanky Panky’s from the first time I put them on. My pocket-book not so much! A friend of mine came across the identical twin to Hanky Panky. And as always, my feelings, why spend more when you can save, on the exact same product {even the fabrics are similar}. Not to mention they wear the same as well. Can you tell the difference?

why spend more…..

Yesterday I was seconds away from submitting an order on Nordstrom for this great pair of DV by Dolce Vita boots. But before I pressed complete order I decided to see if there was anything else out there similar {they also happened to be on Gilt, for a few dollars less}. Well wouldn’t you know it I found the exact style boots at Target. And right now Target is having a buy one get one half off sale on shoes {and free shipping over $50}. So I got myself a pair and my sister a pair for less then the sale price of the DV by Dolce Vita. The shopping gods once again reminded me that is there  no reason to spend a lot of money on something seasonal and so trendy. Just put in a little extra effort and a lot of dollars can be saved!
